What Does God Want From Me?

God created us in His image so that we can identify with Him and enjoy an intimate relationship with Him.  But sin separated us from God.  To reconcile us to Himself, God gave His Son, Jesus, as the perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins.  Jesus took our place and laid down His life for us so that we can be reconciled to God and enjoy a relationship with Him again.

EACH DAY I FALL ON MY KNEES

To develop our church theme “Heartfelt Worship, Unceasing Prayers”, our pastors have reproduced devotions on Christian hymns as Reflections in the church bulletin on alternate Sundays.  The devotions give us the background of favourite Christian hymns, explaining the composer’s motivation and inspiration when he/she penned the lyrics of the hymn.

UNDERSTANDING TEMPTATION

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

TOTAL SURRENDER

We normally think of sin as doing something wrong. We have learnt from the earlier studies of the book Discipleship Essentials that sin is disobeying God.

When we disobey God, we are actually “going our own way.” This is two sides of the same coin. But it is important for us to understand that when we choose to go our own way and disobey God, we have actually made a choice - we have chosen to follow the desires of our heart rather than sacrifice our own desires and cravings and surrender ourselves to the Lord’s leading.
