Upcoming Events and Anouncements from The Girls’ Brigade.

Ministry Anouncements are not updated periodically:
It is recorded in the book of Esther that upon knowing the critical situation the people of God were facing, Mordecai urged Queen Esther to take urgent action. Esther was worried and concerned about her limitations.
But Mordecai said: “… And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?” (4:14)
Esther accepted the task and summoned prayer support at the same time. She understood the uncertainty involved, but replied with great courage and trust: “I will go… And if I perish, I perish.” (4:16)
Will you be the Esther for Prinsep GB 7th Coy?

The Girls’ Brigade 7th Company based in Pioneer Secondary School wishes to express our thanksgiving to God for the partnership of Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church as our sponsoring church for these many years. In this year, we have experienced God’s faithful sustenance and provision in amazing ways, especially for providing 2 new teachers in charge, raising additional helpers from PSPC (Yung Wai Lin & Samantha Loo) and increasing our intake to over 20 GB girls.
Since the start of 2008, we have been actively searching for a new Captain for the 7th Coy. However, no candidate has yet to be found. As such, the Session will like to make an appeal to female members of PSPC who are of sound Christian character and have the burden for this ministry to consider coming forward as candidates for the GB captaincy. This is very crucial because in the event that we fail to provide a Captain by mid October or so, PSPC will face a situation of:
• Releasing the sponsorship of the 7th Coy to another church, or • Closing down the 7th Coy and the GB girls will be channeled to other Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) or Uniformed Groups.
The likelihood of another church taking up the sponsorship of 7th Coy might not be high at this moment since most churches need time to prepare for long term ministry sustainability. Hence, the probability of PSPC having to close down 7th Coy is higher.
It will be such a great loss to PSPC not only because of our long history of involvement in the GB movement, but even more importantly, it will be a loss of opportunity to advance God’s kingdom by reaching out to these girls with God’s Word and love. This is a highly strategic mission field because the GB provides us with a legitimate platform to enter a neighbourhood school to disciple each GB girl for a good 4 to 5 years.
We have the manpower (teachers in charge, officers and helpers) and financial resources for this mission field, but yet it will be such a great loss of outreach opportunity should we discontinue this ministry for the lack of a Captain. If you sense that the Lord has moved you to respond or if you will like to find out more about the GB ministry, please do not hesitate to contact Pr Darryl Chan (63370595; darrylchan@pspc.org.sg) or Mrs Wong Siew Ee (91175249; folojo@starhub.net.sg) by Sunday, 12 October.
Our experiences of God’s faithfulness and provision give us the faith and hope that in His sovereignty, He will provide all that is needed to continue His work. Please join us in earnest prayer for God to move in His sovereign way to bring about His kingdom purposes: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38).

Dear Friends,
Greetings to you in Christ Jesus from GB 7th Coy!
I believe that most Prinsepians are familiar with the GB ministry as well as our annual Fortnight event. It’s only during this 2-weeks period that GB is allowed to raise fund for our Company. This year, our GB Fortnight runs from 13 July to 27 July.
Each year we are thankful for God’s providence. Members of Prinsep had been increasingly generous and our ministry had been greatly blessed by your outpouring of love. All our girls could see and feel the love you brought to them. Deep down in their hearts, they know the church cared about them. This testimony would not be taken away from them.
The funds we raised last year enabled us to join hands with BB to invest in new banners for recruitment and produce publicity materials that raised our profile in the school for better awareness. Such moves helped us reaped good recruitment results.
Your contributions also allowed us to increase our GB mini-Library resources. New Christian CDs & VCDs were added. The Girls found the biography books inspiring while material on life issues relevant. Quality of programs and badge work were able to be improved due to better resources used.
Besides these, every Girl were given a Bible when they join GB. Since 2007, we also started giving every new Girl a book written by Dr Low Guat Tin (Professor in NIE) on “Breezing Through Exams” as their birthday present to help them in their studies too.
This year, we started to revamp our customized Badgework material to include quality handbooks and creative teaching aids. Therefore, the contributions collected in 2008 will come in handy to materialize the plan.
We are of the opinion that if the badge work structure is better managed and organized, more time will be saved and thus allowing more time for us to get down to real business of knowing the Girls and ministering to them. In fact, we have started a character review process.
Apart from our Company needs, we are also responsible to support our HQ and their extension work around Asia. Hence, we need to raise more funds, such that, enough would be left for 7th Coy - after a portion of about 50-60% of the total collection will be channeled to the work of GBHQ.
We will be thankful to God for whatever amount He is going to bless us with, for we trust that His Spirit will impress upon His people to partner in His ministry.
We look forward to God’s leading and provision.
Thanks again and God bless!
Wong Siew Ee Captain
Next Sunday, the Girls will be coming to Church for their GB Fortnight collection. Many of them will be afraid to approach you. Some of them are first timers and therefore shy. You will definitely encourage them greatly with your generous support and warmth.
3 steps to a “fun” raising : 1. Plan how much you intend to support thru donation cards 2. Prepare loose note (like preparing for CNY “Ang Pow”) 3. Sign on as many cards as you can
The Girls will surely have a lot of fun doing fund raising this way!
