Rev Carl Blanford came to Prinsep in 1977 and stayed till 1982 when he returned to the United States because of health reasons. Prior to that he was a missionary in Swatow and Thailand. He spoke fluent Mandarin and Teochew, which was greatly used to minister to the parents of young people in Prinsep.

He was noted for remembering names and relations in the church. One legacy he left behind, which still exists today, is annual missions focus in the preaching programme in Prinsep.
