Aims & Objectives
  1. To provide a programme that helps to identify, equip, supervise, support and assess prospective candidates for full-time ministry, either as pastors, missionaries or staff workers.
  2. To provide a holistic exposure to full-time ministry work for ALL interns.
Scope
  1. The PIP is applicable to candidates considering full-time ministry as pastors, ministry workers or missionaries.
  2. This programme also caters for people who are considering setting aside an extended period of time (e.g. 1 or 2 years) to serve God full-time.
  3. The programme covers a basic period of 1-2 years and may extend to a period of full-time formal theological training of up to maximum of 4 years at the recommendation of the panel comprising the Pastoral Team and some Elders.
Syllabus
  1. The following areas will be included in the equipping of the interns:

  • Presbyterian Distinctives and Exposure to the English Presbytery and the Synod of Presbyterian Church of Singapore.
Methodology

  3. In the case of classroom learning, it will assume two forms - in-house and external courses (e.g. overseas correspondence courses, TTC and SBC)
  4. As part of the practical ministry exposure, ALL interns are expected to go on at least one mission trip.
  5. As part of the assessment of the suitability of the interns for full-time ministry, an external independent psychological test would be conducted.
  6. Towards the end of the programme, an evaluation of the suitability of the interns will be assessed by a panel comprising the Pastoral Team and some Elders.
  7. A quarterly assessment/report on the intern’s progress will be made.
Finance
  1. A monthly allowance of S$1,500/- will be given to the intern during internship. In addition, an annual book allowance of S$200/- will be given. In the event of the intern’s special needs, due consideration will be given on a case-by-case basis.
  2. Upon endorsement by the leadership and acceptance by a recognised bible college/seminary, the intern’s tuition fees will be covered by the church. In addition, a monthly allowance of S$1,500/- and an annual book allowance of S$300/- will be given.
