REFLECTIONS

The Joyful Voices is a Children’s Music Ministry under the umbrella of PSPC Children’s Ministry.  Our youngest member is aged 3 and our oldest members are aged 12. We seek to train children to love, serve and honour God through music and song, as well as to share God’ Word during worship services, and pre-believers during outreach events.

As one of the helpers in the Joyful Voices, I assist in the setting up of audio equipment and play a part in preparing the children for song items.  That often includes getting them to settle down and teaching them to sing – both of which I’ve had no experience with in such a large group setting.  In fact, I initially entered the Joyful Voices Ministry expecting to only help with the audio equipment!  Little did I know that I would be roped in to help with other areas of the ministry.  However, through this, I’ve learnt that God prepares and equips us for service, even if we do not think we are able.  As we serve, He enables and strengthens us.  With time, I find that my own uncertainties gradually diminished and I’m learning how to better teach the children with every practice.

I’ve been serving with the Joyful Voices Ministry for a little under a year, and I have found immense joy in being able to grow with our younger brothers and sisters in service through fellowship and singing songs of praise to our God together.  Lastly, I would like to encourage you, my brothers and sisters – Do not be afraid of what you cannot do, but look forward to seeing what God can do through you.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)
